Starting a Fight

A couple of posts back I linked to an article I'd written for the Greens blog about the Democrats' scary decision to preference the right-wing Christian Family First party ahead of the Greens (I won't say 'us', because despite my involvement, I'm not a member of the party). Well, it got right up the nose of the leader of the Democrats, who's chosen to express his displeasure on his own blog.

One of the things that I enjoy about free speech is, well, free speech. Particularly when it results in petty mudslinging from somebody who's arguably got other, more important fish to fry (like, you know, stopping his party's slide into oblivion.)

What I don't get is why you are going toe to toe with a guy who is, as clearly explained by an arbiter of Melbourne youth culture, the leader of the very party you're supposed to be representin?

Jeez, I knew the Democrats were going down the toilet, but reading Andrew Bartlett's blog was quite terrifying. I liked your comment on his post, particularly its sardonic "Ha ha".
