Mousetrap

Chris Glass, whose lovely site I found via If…Else, has some excellent advice on how to catch a mouse without a mousetrap. I’ve got another method, albeit a less humane one: send your partner/co-cat-parent away for a week, and then wait for the carnage to begin.
Since Sophie left for Sydney a scant 48 hours ago, the cats (one of them in particular) have delivered 2 rats (on the large side), two mice (on the very small, bordering-on-newborn side) and two birds, one small and whole, and one large and ripped to shreds, its bloody entrails adhering to my office wall. This does not bode well for the mental health of the friend who will be looking after the cats while I’m in Canberra this weekend.
