Forty-five seconds with Quicksilver

Flabbergastingly excited reviews from What Do I Know and Hicksdesign had me rushing to download Quicksilver. It is, quite simply, revolutionary.

Hitting Apple-Space opens a small window into which you may type your immediate desires; a series of available actions allows instant manipulation of your chosen item. Typing the first few letters of a name and hitting return brings up that person's Address Book card; typing the first few letters of a bookmarked website title opens the site in a new tab; typing the first few letters of an Application or Folder name and hitting return opens said Application or Folder. It should, for people attuned to thinking like this, replace the Dock entirely. There are still more functions (a shelf and a clipboard recorder) that I haven't even begun to explore.

I've played with this little gem for all of forty-five seconds and I know already that life will never be the same. Get thee to Blacktree and DOWNLOAD IT NOW.

UPDATE: I just found this very useful quick tutorial

Peter says:

I am having a play with it now and, I must admit, it seems pretty sharp. On my 45 seconds, I haven't yet found a way to open a particular document - it doesn't seem to find them. I'll keep playing, though. Thanks.

Stephen Coles says:

If you're willing to play with other launchers, give Butler a try. It has the Quicksilver functions and more. I've had him on staff for months and he's replaced nearly all my gadgetry without getting in my way.
