Gehry's Disney Center

Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall really is incredible. We were there at totally the wrong time for photos - the light was behind it - but I took half a dozen photos anyway. I didn't get one of the logotype on the front steps, and I wish I did: it's stunning.

Hi, Virginia. Hope you're enjoying LA. When I lived there, there was much hubbub over the design of this building, lots of gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands and looking (of) askance, but I think everyone's pleased now. Great photo. A pleasure to meet you at SXSW. Happy travels.

We had a lovely chat over Mint Slices this morning with Simone and Martin from Affirm Press, who make the enchanting Slow Guides to Melbourne and Sydney (with other cities planned in due course). I worked on The Big Issue during Marty’s time as editor - he left to start Affirm Press at around the same time as I departed to start The Labs, and it was good to see him again. The Slow Guides blog is very much worth a look - many of the tips would make great first dates, I reckon. Or hundred-and-sixty-first dates.
